I only really remember Meryl, Emily, James, Anna, Chris and Billy. Went with Meryl, love her in it, she's so much fun and her big song was amazing, it's the only 2010s nom of hers that I like. But all the others were great and deserving

Chris Pine and Meryl were Oscar (nom) worthy. I also really liked Lilla.

Even if I also really liked Meryl in this, gonna have Mike D'Angelo speak my vote:

No surprise that the musical-theater vets (Kendrick, Crawford, Huttlestone) generally shine brightest, but if anyone deserves awards buzz here it's Ms. Emily Blunt, who pitches her performance at precisely the correct distance between the abstraction of theater/fairy tales and the intimacy of cinema. She may be the most versatile actress of her generation.

Blunt started strong, but I didn't feel that she was well-utilized in the movie at all, unfortunately.

    Streep I guess.

Meryl Last Midnight is peak for her

The cast did a good job overall, especially Emily and Chris Pine.

Blunt's rendition of Moments in the Woods shreds every other number in the film. What her character is going through emotionally, how it's at times funny, yearning, guilty, and wistful...the way she mumbles "moment" one time into her scarf out of embarrassment...just a tour de force of physical performance, vocalization, and character understanding.

Meryl may have the pipes, but this is the best acting in the film. When you add Blunt's hilarious and adorable reactions to Chris Pine on Any Moment, and the fact that she has duets with Corden and Kenrick, she really has more to do than anyone else and executes it all fantastically.

If that isn't enough, her posthumous "Force Ghost" appearance during No One Is Alone is genuinely moving.

Y'all are nuts with that Meryl Kool-Aid. Blunt's even better as The Baker's Wife than Joanna Gleason's Tony-winning performance and that's no mean feat.

It's Streep. Followed by Kendrick, Blunt, then Daniel Huttlestone.

Kendrick. I've seen the film twice and yeah, she's slightly better than Streep and Blunt, who are quite great too.

    Blunt quite easily.

Streep hamming up by 360 degrees doesn't do it for me

I feel like everyone is missing a little something honestly, except for maybe the smaller parts like Baranski who can obviously do no wrong. A lot of good to very good performances of the material, but just not reaching the stratosphere of GREAT. I enjoy the film and it's a reasonably satisfying adaptation thanks to the score (mostly) surviving in tact but there are some visual and editorial choices I just never vibe with.

Voted Blunt, always felt like her performance was a little more spontaneous and cheeky than the other big performances, and she nailed her final songs. It's definitely one of Streep's most fun recent performances but I can't shake feeling like she's a little awkward and shoe-horned into the role

Reminder that this was the time when people were excited about James Corden getting a role like this.

The results show my preference and ranking too.

I love this film and I'm quite surprised this place has always been the kindest to it from all the places I've looked online, but I'd take the other Rob Marshall/Emily Blunt/Meryl Streep collaboration over it any day of the week (I know I'm mostly alone on that one, though).
