So it looks like the Being the Ricardos mirage comparison that I made for The Whale can be right.
Personally, being Aronofski gave me suspicious vibes of actually happening when his films, as director and as producer, tend to underperform here and lost in the main battles against more compelling competitors. The only exception was Black Swan, but that was an unquestionable phenomenon and even then we saw how it flopped at the Oscar noms or how Portman wasn't capable to win any big critics award.
