Disagree, can likely get actress + picture + director + screenplay + maybe sup actress and 1-2 techs, which makes it top 5 easy.

    My thoughts exactly.

    Tar won't be Top 5.
It's the best reviewed of all contenders so far (and that seems unlikely to change) and probably the movie event of the year, so I wonder how it is that many people still think it may miss a BP nom or just scrape through a low tier nominee? Is it because of the CAROL precedent?
That was pretty much an anomaly and it's not like two movies must have the same award path only because they both have Blanchett playing lesbians.

People are STILL debating where Marina deserved to be nominated? In this, the year of our lord 2022?

If you think her achingly beautiful performance is "an extra", then I don't know what to tell you.

Either way, it would be wonderful if Hoss got nominated, and I agree with George that TÁR is likely Top 5.

Hoss really has not a substantial presence, no showy/standout scenes, she’s not a big name, the film isn’t a BP frontrunner (feels lower tier)/unlikely to be a populist hit, etc. Yes, Blanchett can win but IMO Hoss doesn’t fit the profile of the type who gets dragged along, it’s not as if every lead acting winner pulls in a supporting perf. I think Hoss is a long shot, I don’t really see her advantage over a bunch of other contenders here. In terms of this category getting a coattail from a lead acting frontrunner, I think Chau and especially Hsu are considerably stronger than Hoss.
It sounds like something I'd only predict if she got a BAFTA nomination. It could happen, but if you put it that way, it will be a challenge.

Still think Foy will win this, unless WMW comes back here or Robbie is moved.

Nah, just do the internet, pal. It's just the talk of the town whenever/wherever it's screening, right now.

Said this, I expect it to get plenty of noms but probably win little à la TPOTD in the end (maybe only Actress just like the latter only won Director).

Editing, perhaps? Anyway, BP, BD, original screenplay, 2 acting noms and music would be a good lot, already.

I considered it, but the cinematographer is not a big name, and not sure how showy it is?

Field's team is flawless but no big names. Hoffmeister worked with Terrence Davies and the editor Monika Willi has worked with Haneke since La Pianiste.

I think the only triangle of sadness we are going to have this year are the winners of Actor, Actress and Supporting Actress.

I take it either you weren’t very big on Everything Everywhere All At Once, or you just don’t see it being an AMPAS thing? I noticed you aren’t predicting it in any of the acting categories, including Actress and Supporting Actor.

By the way, tagging onto the earlier discussion here, I can totally see Jamie Lee Curtis happening, especially if the film overperforms.
Olivia (the one on the left) was very sweet.

Nina Hoss is in. The sooner people realize it, the less Pikachu faces they will be making come Oscars nomination morning.
