A name, which came in my mind while i was doing the Sept I poll is Paul Mescal for "Aftersun". Reading some of the reviews the film has gotten (which has been one of the most praised at Cannes no doubt) Mescal has gotten actual RAVES (in capital letter) and his chemistry with his co-star Frankie Collio as father and daughter was remarked as one of the highlights. And per Dirk's twitter, it seems this is the actual film from A24 which is actually doing a full fall festival route with Telluride, Toronto and New York. Anyway, Telluride is coming up next.

Another thing about this list, this year is poised to be one of the younger ones, especially if DiCaprio and Phoenix don't release this year and Gimenez Cacho and Song don't deliver on fall festivals.

    Austin Butler: 31
    Diego Calva: 30
    Timothée Chalamet: 27
    Adam Driver: 39
    Kelvin Harrison Jr.: 28
    Paul Mescal: 26
    Jeremy Pope: 30
    Eddie Redmayne: 40
    Harry Styles: 28
Micheal Ward: 24 (25 by Nov)

Then for the actors with +40 years old

    DiCaprio: 47
    Fraser: 53 (54 by Dec)
    Gimenez Cacho: 60
    Jackman: 54
    Nighy: 72
    Phoenix: 47
    Song: 55

So…. no one thinks Tom Hanks has a chance at a nomination for A MAN CALLED OTTO?

Agreed, he can even get a top 3 critics win which would be a huge boost, especially given the field looks pretty dry among contenders from critics faves this year.

I've been right before. I predicted ASIB to be huge with oscars and it got ton of nods. I predicted Rylance for bridge of spies before anybody and Sam Rockwell in three bilboards. And James Franco in disaster artist even though he got canceled he still was a huge breakout that year. Sometime's I have powers.

And sometimes you predict Butler missing. Guess no one's perfect.

I really want him to happen, and maybe he will get to my top 5 next month...

I haven’t seen anything about a theatrical release so I imagine it’ll for the Emmys come July/September.

Hmm, starting to think Fraser and Jackman might be less viable for the win and that Austin Butler may have enough take it. Interesting to think that if he does, these musical icons either go all the way (Malek) or just miss the top 5 (Hudson, Egerton).

Especially after that The Son trailer, which was hideous. Sure, the film could still be great but Jackman looks phony here. Not buying him at all as a winner.
