This one could go a lot of ways. Who expected the more highbrow writers to select two Mandalorian eps last year?

I am surprised about the BCS doubt. They got two Writing nominations for S5, the writers like the show.

This Is Us didn't submit The Train? Feels like a missed opportunity there.

I'm tempted to predict "Us" but I don't believe the show has received any Writing/Directing nominations from he Emmys before. It's interesting since the show has netted a few WGA nods over the years but no luck here.

This is Us isn't seen as a directorial achievement or a writerly show. It's always been an actors' push so I wouldn't bet on it popping up here.

    1. Succession - “All the Bells Say” (Jesse Armstrong)
    2. Severance - “The We We Are” (Dan Erickson)
    3. Squid Game - “One Lucky Day” (Hwang Dong-hyuk)
    4. Better Call Saul - “Plan and Execution” (Thomas Schnauz)
    5. Better Call Saul - “Rock and Hard Place” (Gordon Smith)
    6. Yellowjackets - “Pilot” (Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson)
    7. Ozark - “Ellie” (Paul Kolsby)

I think my top three are locks (though there's a slight chance Squid Game gets snubbed for awful episode submission but I doubt it since it's such a force to be reckoned with). I feel good with both my Saul episodes, I think at least one is locked, not sure which one, but I'm hopeful both will get in. Yellowjackets should happen as long as the Emmys embrace it, as I'm predicting they will. Went back and forth between both Ozark episodes and Stranger Things for the last slot. Ozark did great for S3, but hadn't been nominated before that. Meanwhile Stranger Things got in for both of their first two seasons, but missed the third. Ultimately went with "Ellie" just because I think their finale's too polarizing and I think Ozark is slightly stronger than Stranger Things at the Emmys. But not by much.

The majority of it’s WGA noms have been for the Episodic categories, where panelist’s jury the nominees instead of the whole guild voting.

Ironically, I think if the Emmys still had the limited voting system that they did in 2015-2016 but would’ve performed better in the directing and writing categories.
