That looks about right to me. She’s definitely not more likely than any of Coolidge, Dever, MacDowell and Britton.

    She’s in the 5-10 range.

Her performance in episodes 7 and 8 are among her best work and easily better than Coolidge and Britton (the ones I've seen so far).
Coolidge is fantastic, by the way.

Having only seen 'The White Lotus' and 'The Staircase' from the names listed, the thought of Jennifer Coolidge winning and Juliette Binoche being snubbed is depressing.

    Blunt Force

I mean... it's not always about the quality of the performance. Truth be told considering the audience's reception to The Staircase it's possible large swaths of voters won't even sit through it. Which would hurt Binoche very much considering she has literally nothing to do in the first half of the show.

Emmys favour early episode showcases to late episode ones.

This is a predictions thread so I’m not sure why you’re getting riled up about the quality of the performances

This. Binoche was so great, whew. She and Daddario are my faves.

I mean, no shade to Coolidge, it's just that the role didn't quite live up to the critics hype.

I doubt they only watch the first episodes of a miniseries. With that reasoning Toni Collette wouldn't be nominated either considering her best episode is number 8.

Lol Mrs. America is the best example of them watching just first episodes of a limited series if they're not interested enough, they definetly drop shows during the run if they're not hooked enough. And Toni Collette already has two death scenes by the time mid-way point of the series arrives as opposed to Binoche having 10 seconds of correcting Firth's tie.

Of course there’s definitely shows that voters watch all the way through. It’s more so the fact that The Staircase didn’t really take off that leads one to believe it might not have been watched by that many people and/or all the way through.

It doesn’t help that it came out during a time where there was sooo much to watch on TV.

For such an icon of television and someone who is constantly working, it’s wild that this would Connie Britton's first nomination in nearly a decade.

Why would Mrs. America be an example of that? If that was the case they would have nominated Rose Byrne who was almost a co-lead in the first half of the series. They just went with their favorite names

Not nominating their darling Sarah Paulson or her episode which was widely considered to be a highlight of the entire show for Writing or Directing instead going with the early-coming Uzo Aduba episode for writing, especially that they nominated Tracey Ullmann who wasn't nearly as predicted, but got her standout episode in the first half of the series.

They also nominated Martindale whose episode was the one before Paulson's, and there was also the impact of BLM. But probably you're right and some voters didn't watched it through the end and that might have plaed also a part (but I wouldn't say that that much)

Regardless, I doubt Binoche is going to have any issue, it's not like she has any internal competition like any of the other ladies do

So much more deserving over Binoche.

I mean, there are other actresses that are on the ballot for The Staircase though. And those actresses are a lot more prevalent early on in the season.

Regardless though, internal competition isn’t really a thing in the nomination stage since it’s an unlimited ballot.

LMAO the idea of one of the most lovable and hardworking character actresses winning a major industry award is "depressing"?

Coolidge can come and collect her flowers, thank you very much

Coolidge has been an unpolished diamond in Hollywood for a long time and this is the first time she has a chance to win a main industry award. Not to mention that, ignoring personal opinions, the performance is utterly raved, the series is liked, and Coolidge's momentum is deservedly unquestionable. Binoche has enough recognition.

I didn’t even know Mare Winningham was in Dopesick. That seems like an easy name check nomination.

But is Coolidge the favorite to win? I don't follow the Emmy race but I believe she won nothing remarcable for this performance last year.
