EGOTs: Which has the best taste?

Which of the top four awards in the entertainment industry - the Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, and Tonys - have the best taste in their respective fields? Given how polarizing these awards are, perhaps a better way of thinking about this would be to wonder which of them has the "least bad", rather than "best" taste.

I guess the Tonys? I don’t get to see most of those plays, though.

    Definitely not the Grammys.

Not the one that awarded Game of Thrones seasons 7 and 8 and 5 and 6 Best Drama.

Tonys probably require the most commitment from their voters to see the nominated plays, musicals, and performances. So I'd say that.

Emmys automatically last for not awarding Keri Russell multiple awards for The Americans

Despite the recent floppage of the Best Play category, I’d say probably the Tonys? Followed by the Oscars, then the Emmys. The less said about the Grammys the better.

Same with the Emmys. Only one acting award for Mad Men over 7 seasons? GTFO.

Emmys are very hit-and-miss, but they did give us Fleabag, Schitt’s Creek, Succession, The Crown, Chernobyl, Watchmen, Queen’s Gambit in recent years. Not a bad group of winners, there.

I can’t vote for any awards body that lets Dear Evan Hansen and Cats sweep. So, Oscars.

Don't follow the Tonys closely enough but imagine it has to be between them and the Oscars by default.

I went with Oscars because their worst choices that I've seen, as bad as they are, don't come particularly close to the atrocity exhibition that is Dear Evan Hansen.

The Tonys, only because I'm too ill-informed about Broadway to despise their choices, snubs and so on. Oscar and Emmy have inspired deep rage and disappointment over the years. The Grammys have sucked for as long as I can remember.

Yeah, the whole collective American Theatre Wing thinking Dear Evan Hansen shouldn't have been panned to the high heavens and received the equivalent of razzes is a major pall to their taste.

I'd say the Oscars since they're the only ones who didn't give awards to Cynthia ErivNO and Ben Platt

The Emmys win just for awarding JLD six times in a row

Most Oscar winners are either terrible or forgettable, sometimes even both. They fare better with the nominations but even then them actually leading this poll is The Tonys are a mixed bag from what I've seen (adding that Harry Potter atrocity that swept to the likes of DEH) and the Grammys only ever seem to make a good decision by sheer dumb luck.

The Emmys should lose just for awarding JLD six times in a row and thereby awfully ignoring all the other talented actresses in excellent performances

Emmys occasionally make the coolest choices, but the majority of them are uninspired. And the fact that they have a lot more nominees and that uninspired winners/nominees tend to get repeated every god damn year makes it impossible to choose them.

Yes, the overabundance of repeat Emmy winners is a major turn-off. I don't care how brilliant an actor happens to be or how clever at selecting submissions. After someone has won three times for playing the same character it gets rather sickening.

Take your name out of contention and thus force your peers to move on and honor other deserving individuals. If one's Emmy thirst persists, strive to win Guest Actor on another show or appear in a streaming or made for cable TV-movie. These folks should tackle new challenges rather than be greedy.

I think, the more foreign art the academy notes, the better its tastes.

As for me, Erivo deserved to win Oscar for the song "Stand Up" (2019).
