And if spring is as jam packed as it was this year, then The Last of Us might have a harder time of breaking out than it would if it came out later this year.

We’ll see what HBO does and how they choose to prioritize their drama contenders, especially if Succession does indeed come back in time.
I don't think The Last of Us will have a hard time breaking out if it lives up the hype, the fanbase is already huge and I'm sure that there will be people who heard that the game was great but don't play that would check it out.

Casey Bloys already said they're releasing the show in "Early 2023", so it seems like it will make the season unless Succession does take the spring slot.

I'm still not really sure why TLOU isn't just a limited series, but yeah I have more confidence in House of Dragon as well.

Two games, and a third one will probably come out in like 5-6 years.

Is it getting another season? I haven't watched it yet and thought it was limited.

Considering how insanely slow game development has become, more like 10+ years. At the current rate my grandkids will be alive by the time some of the big gaming sequels will be released.

There are two games, so I guess it can go two seasons. I also suppose there is the potential for the show to run as long as it wants past the timespan of the game, OR, just go its own way after the first season.

There's a lot to unpack with the first game alone and there's a 2nd game so this makes perfect sense imo. Wouldn't be surprised if the first 15 minutes of the game were the entire pilot and if it takes more than 1 season before they get to Part II.

Sandman reviews don't seem good enough to cut it.

I suspect that The Last Of Us following season(s) will feature original storylines before adapting Part II. Some parts were already shown as flashbacks in the second game and could be fleshed out to create more content based on that. And maybe that way they will approach and introduce Part II controversial parts more smoothly.

Reg TLOU, they’ll probably take an extra year or two before starting production on the sequel’s adaptation to age the actors up (and the longer wait would make sense in-story as well), and I agree they might adapt the flashback stuff in chronological order to further flesh out Joel and Ellie’s falling out , on top of introducing the Part II characters earlier. They’ll also most likely split II into two separate seasons ( Ellie’s and Abby’s respective stories — pretty confident they’ll do this, even if they don’t do the whole S2 flashback season) so we’re looking at 3/4 potential seasons as is, plus a final 5th one for Part III whenever it inevitably comes out, all in the next 10 years.

So yeah, years of content I’d assume. Not limited at all And the hype will be MASSIVE. Real potential here for four quadrant appeal appointment television imo. Something in it that can appeal to all demographics!!

Bang deserves a supporting nom, and I'm not saying that because I talked to him!
