Is there any tea on Hopkins' role in Gray's Cannes entry?

Gosh, this image of him is promising:

De Niro’s part sounds so good. He really could be coming for his third. I hereby declare him to be the frontrunner

Will be very surprised if any actor gets traction for a James Gray film.

Ad Astra, The Immigrant, Two Lovers are all considered great efforts by him.

James Gray is definitely the type of director that AMPAS will embrace one day if he makes a 'basic' enough movie. Will it be 'Armageddon Time'? I have my reservations given the test screening tea (if it's real), but one day it will happen.

I'm not disagreeing, just commenting on the film's chances for an acting nomination. Phoenix delivered his best performance in Two Lovers, Cotillard was great in The Immigrant but both didn't go anywhere in awards season.

I would like to be surprised though if the cast deliver on its promise.

If Hopkins gets in three times in a span of four years when I'm sure no one would have predicted him to even come back ever would be the best damn thing.
