I’m curious how they will edit this for HBO, the show was nearly 6hrs long and HBO has blocked out 3 1/2 hrs for it.

Btw, I feel like I fell in love with Eminem all over again, he was very gracious and was obviously very nervous during his speech. He named over 100 rappers and encouraged the Hall to consider inducting more hip hop artists (including Queen Latifah whom I had just been discussing her Rock Hall prospects with the person I went with).

My favorite moment from last night:

Whew. Amazing tea, Ben! Can't wait to watch the ceremony. Looks like Mariah is playing the game. Bet she goes in within the next couple of years.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I heard Taylor Swift was in the Carly Simon video package? Who else was featured in hers?

For Carly Simon, it was Taylor Swift and Melissa Etheridge, however, they used archived interview footage for both of them, so I didn’t bother to mention it. The Taylor Swift comments they used are from the joint interview she did with Carly Simon when they did “You’re So Vain” together; I believe it’s available on YouTube.

And yeah, there was a lot of Mariah Carey and Gwen Stefani in the video packages (and Gwen Stefani showed up for the ceremony!)..

I believe Carly Simon lost two sisters to cancer within the last two weeks otherwise she was planning on being there in person. Very sad.

She wrote a letter that Sara Bareilles read as part of her induction speech, though the guitarist that played on the original recording of “You’re So Vain” mentioned on his Facebook that she would record a video speech from Martha’s Vineyard, so I was expecting to see her up on screen.

Just watched the HBO Special of the Ceremony. Whew. Incredible. What a great class this year.

And the inductee jam of Jolene at the very end? Only in the Rock Hall will you see Dolly and Rob Halford from Judas Priest cheek to cheek ever. With fellow inductees Simon Le Bon, Pat Benatar and Annie Lennox joining along. And support from Brandi Carlile, Sheryl Crow, P!nk and the Zac Brown Band. A tough act to follow for next year.
