Steve McQueen to write and direct ‘Blitz’ with Saoirse Ronan

Oscar winning filmmaker Steve McQueen has set his next feature. He will write, direct and produce Blitz based on his original idea. McQueen has set the film at New Regency and McQueen’s Lammas Park will produce alongside Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films.

This reunites McQueen with New Regency, where he made the Best Picture winner 12 Years A Slave, and Widows. The film will begin production next year, and McQueen is keeping plot specifics under wraps

I wonder. McQueen just made a documentary about the Nazi occupation of Amsterdam, The Occupied City, written by his wife Bianca Stigter (an accomplished filmmaker in her own right now).

Too bad for you because by the looks of it McQueen likes Boyega a lot.

In fact, Boyega and McQueen are already thinking ahead to their next project together, although the former Star Wars actor stopped short of revealing exactly what it will be.

He added: "I’ve been talking to Steve, we’re going to work with each other again and we’re going to do something here at home. So it’s inspired much more of these kinds of collaborations which is great."
