I mean, Queen Angela Bassett can't even win for her narration nominations.

I'm not holding my breath for King Don until I see it.

He should be winning this year for "Bye Letitia".

Curious to see how the fall and summer shows hold out without the globes to give them more buzz.

ABC competing for Limited Series, looks good and has A List producers. Let's see if this is will perform similarly like American Crime or a dud like When We Rise

Yeah, the Globes not happening this year is really gonna hurt a lot of shows chances at the Emmyís. I feel like Iíll probably either underestimate or completely discount almost all of the shows coming out this summer unless they turn out to be giant hits. I donít think SAG will be enough for a lot of performances to last till the Emmyís, especially since there are so many shows thatíll be in contention next year.

Eh I really don't think the Globes have ever had an impact on the Emmys? Their TV awards are basically totally irrelevant.

For me, itís more about just keeping the shows/performances in conversation - which the Globes were good for. I have a hard time seeing something thatíll be released in June or July make it to next years Emmyís unless itís a huge hit or performs really well at the guilds.

Of course, it all depends on things do shake out come this time next year.

If they still release nominees and winners even if it's only via press release with no award show and guests it can still have some impact?

The Golden Globes, the Oscars and the MTV Movie Awards are the only movie award shows that air live in Germany and news sites report about the winners, attendees and red carpet. They don't do that with other movie award shows.

Succession wins at the Globes paved the way for the show to win at the Emmys. The same also occurred when they were the first to award Mrs.Maisel for season 1.

Yeah the globes keep summer and fall shows relevant. Some are gonna suffer due to no ceremony this year. Of course missing globes didnít mean you couldnít win the Emmy (like Zendaya) but it did create buzz for shows like succession.

Eh, Succession won other awards like PGA or WGA, which were more important displays of its strength imo.

The show did miss SAG though, which in hindsight is perplexing.

I don’t think Succession, which won the TCA, PGA, and WGA and was the only eligible show that made the DGA lineup, needed the Globes to maintain buzz.

I will never understand why this happened.

The actors just didnít discover it back then. I remember a lot saying they were binging during quarantine. Also the ensemble winner the crown ended up having only 2 nominationsÖ

Succession didnít need the Globes, but shows that win PGA, WGA, TCA and ultimately the Emmy donít normally do. That doesnít take away from the fact that there are other shows and performances that do in fact need the Globes and will be hurt this year because they donít get that momentum boost.

Succession was going to win no matter what. The Globes just capitalized on the buzz at the moment to crown it when it was already heading that way anyway.
