Wouldn't have minded if Caillebotte had won that season instead of Sorolla!

McTeague -- funny timing on your new sig. I was in Chicago a few weeks ago and went to the Art Institute there where they have Paris Street; Rainy Day. Truly a staggering work. I don't know as much about art history as I'd like to, but even with my rudimentary understanding I was in awe.

And it's not even my favorite Caillebotte painting!

Ugh, how I wish I could see it live... And watching my siggie I kinda want to switch to Seurat... I find it so baffling that he still hasn't been picked by any player!

Maybe you would like to play...

If only I knew enough about even one painter's oeuvre to not embarrass myself! Gaining more knowledge in art history is definitely life goal (and I'm always lurking these threads for that reason!).

If you ever find yourself in Chicago, the Art Institute there is definitely worth a visit.

Actually, it isn't necessary at all to know much about a painter to compete here! You images-Google a painter, and just choose the paintings you like better. It's super easy, LOL. I myself didn't know many painters I've played until I found them randomly in a Google search.

But I'm not forcing anyone to play

Hmm, given that a painting of his is serving as my phone background right now... maybe I'll play as Alfred Sisley?

If that's an available option, that is. I think there were some impressionists that were off limits because of past editions and I don't remember who those are.

Yes! Sisley is one of the few from the core group of impressionists that wasn't yet claimed, and I'm really happy he finally is.

@Confusion , @Peppin and @MrFilmkritik , please remember to send the Round 1 submission, thanks!

@MrFilmkritik actually still hasn't decided on a painter, and he's been absent for quite some time already. He hasn't even posted yet the Doris Day results, despite announcing it for a couple of Thursdays back So, maybe we have to start the season without him. Hope that's not the case and he can come with a painter and a submission in the next few hours.
