With Actor Idol finished and Music Idol about to finish, is anyone interested in that Painter Idol season I spoke about, with the theme being late 19th century and early 20th century movements:
- Symbolism
- Decadentism
- Art Nouveau
So far, the following people had expressed interest:
1- @Pingy - Maxfield Parrish
2- @MrFilmkritik - TBD
3- @CINNAMON - TBD
4- @DameOctaviaSpencer - TBD
5- @Peppin - TBD (although you PMed me with some possibilities!)
6- And truly yours - TBD
So, between 4 and 7 spotls left!
Anyone wants to play? Tagging previous players @NW12 , @ladylurks , @Confusion , @VV , @Serhal , @Habsburg , @Nora , @Montreel , @Cutie , @24Emmy , @aikugur , @The Dark Poet...
And of course, always trying to get @affy18 to play , hopefully with Hammershøi![]()
I know the theme may seem too specific/obscure, but really, it's a pleasure to start roaming through the following wikipedia pages and discovering how awesome and gorgeous these paintings are, there's A LOT to choose from, and a lot that's gorgeous and creepy and fascinating and many other things.
Here are the links that may help you:

Would Lawren Harris (his early years, up to 1930) be eligible here? His landscapes seem very symbolist to me. I know Canadian painters are hard to categorize - they're kind of their own movement, lol.
I'm out, but thanks for thinking about me!
Would Otto Dix fit? I've had him on hold for a while, and I'm eager to play again. If he is, count me in!
Thank you @McTeague for the tag. And I apologize I won't be able to participate.
You need cooling... Baby I'm not fooling...
I'm gonna send ya... Back to schooling...
I think Dix and the Berlin Secession expressly distanced themselves from the turn-of-century movements and is more a post-WWI, expressionistic figure. But save him for a future one, and choose another one in the links above! There are many DarkPoetish painters among them!
And thanks @Nora and @aikugur for replying!
Also, the Wikipedia entry for art-nouveau painters isn't very good, but, exploring it, you can reach the page for the Catalan art-nouveau painters (in Spain, the movement was called "Modernismo", and "modernisme" in Catalonia). They're FANTASTIC, so, feel free to explore them and claim them!
