Really looking forward to playing Zelda. I thought Breath of the Wild was incredible. Only played a Link to the Past, so no Zelda baggage for me. Have wanted to play Ocarina, but worried it won't hold up (early 3D games feel more dated than 2D ones, IMO). Would have slightly preferred a sequel to Odyssey/new Mario game, I suppose.

I was a huge Zelda stan but i never bought a Switch so i haven't played BotW - i feel like i might as well just wait for the next Nintendo console to play them (assuming it will have backwards compatibility) because Switch kinda seems like it's in its final years now, so there's no point in buying one now.

Anyway, I love Ocarina and Wind Waker the most.

So tempted to buy a Switch solely for BOTW and TOTK.. I’m not really into any other Nintendo franchise but Zelda (I’m a big fan of the lore and keep up with the new releases, but never actually played them), so that’s all I’d be spending 300€ on for… not sure it’s worth it, especially when I already struggle to find the time to play on my PS5 as it is are the games as transformative and life changing as they’ve been made out to be? And there’s the fact the Switch is on its way out… it’d be like buying a PS4 now, no?

I'm too casual of a gamer to swear by its life-changing quality, but BOTW and Odyssey basically justified the cost of the Switch for me alone. FWIW, more hardcore Zelda fans seem to have issues with the game.

I’ve never played a Zelda game all the way through (have gotten probably halfway through A Link to the Past and Link’s Awakening twice each over the years, then gotten distracted by other things and never picked them back up) so find the intense acclaim and instantaneous cries of GOTY for each new edition a bit exhausting, but I genuinely hope one day to discover a love for the franchise.

I’m a diehard Final Fantasy fan and would absolutely love for the main series to return to its former level of acclaim - or even exceed it! - but it’s hard for me to want to explicitly wish for it to be GOTY quality here when that would put me in the same camp as someone with such purposefully terrible and needlessly hurtful takes on, as Sage so eloquently put it, the “terf game for babies.”

And Jedi survivor. If there's one positive it's probably that that game won't even make the lineup at this point.

Put four hours into Tears of the Kingdom this morning and loved it. I’m a super casual fan of the franchise (my brain is not built for puzzles, LMAO), but Breath of the Wild clicked for me. I poured so much time into that game. So excited to keep playing.

I like the 64 ones the most, Majora's Mask is my favorite but Ocarina is also good, they have stronger dungeons/story than Breath of the Wild but less exploring. Wind Waker has cute animation and has the exploration element but not as heavy as Breath of the Wild.

It's been over a week and while I'm playing almost every day I've yet to come anywhere close to bothering finishing the main storyline in TotK. This world is so much better and even more fun to explore than in BotW.

There's so many things to do that I'm getting lost all the damn time. I keep ending up in one place doing something and having no idea what I was trying to do anymore in the first place.

Such is the way with a game full of QTEs tho. I also really hate that there's no day/night cycle. I understand why but an open world game that doesn't have a functioning day/night cycle in this day is just not acceptable.

As for everything else, I really like the look of AC Mirage. It has big 'consensus best game in the franchise but is a commercial flop' vibes imo. Which is a shame. Valhalla was awful so this series needs a reset. FF16 also looks good but I have no faith in Squeenix to deliver a new entry in this franchise anymore.

I'm feeling very whelmed by what I've seen of FF16 so far. Some of the character animation, in particular, is surprisingly low quality.

And yeah, that "showcase" was awful. There's honestly not much I'm looking forward to this year other than Starfield, at this point.

I feel like AC is too big to fail at this point. I think Mirage will do very well. I'm very excited for it, after a 3 years break from the franchise after Valhalla, which yes, huge disappointment.

I just miss E3 man.... All these individual companies' presentations ALWAYS disappointment. Geoff Keighley's Summer Games Fest will the same I'm sure.
